Labour’s Local Election Candidate for the Donaghmede Shane Folan has welcomed news that Educate Together has been awarded patronage of two new primary schools opening in the North East of the city. The first school will cover Donaghmede, Howth and Dublin 13, and the second Raheny, Killester, and Clontarf.
Shane Folan said: “It’s great to see the hard work of locals pay off like this. It really is a testament to what can be achieved when we work together to improve our area. I campaigned alongside parents and residents who worked incredibly hard to get this result and I’m glad I was able to help our community in any way I could.
“One of the two schools will cover Donaghmede and the wider Dublin 13 area which includes Clarehall, Belmayne, and Clongriffin, an area where there will be a huge amount of growth in the near future. I’m happy to see that the needs of the area are finally being taken seriously by the government following local pressure.
Folan continued: “I’m particularly happy to see that the school covering Raheny, Killester, and Clontarf will also be Educate Together. This will hugely benefit the area by allowing parents have a choice as to what type of education their child will receive.
“I look forward to continuing my work with local residents. It is vital that services and supports are in place to meet the needs of our communities” concluded Shane.
